Under the direction of Camille Saucier, the Portland Community Chorus presented a program entitled "I Will Be the Light" for its spring 2024 concert. Through a wide-ranging repertoire including works by Barber, Mozart, and Carly Simon, we explored the challenges of mental illness. The Maine premiere of 'Look Down Fair Moon' by Mari Esabel Valverde, commissioned by the PCC and other choirs, was a tremendous highlight. It was an amazing and inspiring performance of music centering around mental health in societies past and present.
